Mr. Jeremy Newman is a senior career officer with
the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently First
Assistant Secretary, Europe Division, a position he held since 2006. Mr Newman served
as Australia's Ambassador to Iran from 2001 to 2005. He
has also served in Washington (1982-85), Dublin (1979) and Belgrade
(1977-79).
In Canberra Mr Newman has held a range of positions including First Assistant Secretary,
Americas and Europe Division (2005-06) and
Assistant Secretary, Strategic Policy and Intelligence Branch
(1998-2001).
Mr. Newman was Assistant Secretary, Defence, Intelligence and Security and Chair of the Commonwealth Counter Disaster Task Force with the
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet from 1994 to 1998 and also
served as Senior Analyst and later head of the Current Intelligence and
Intelligence Community Branch of the Office of National Assessments
(1986-94).
Mr. Newman was born in Melbourne and educated in Singapore, Sri Lanka and Britain where he graduated from the University of Cambridge with

ένας από τους πλέον διακεκριμένους και υψηλόβαθμους Ισραηλινούς
αξιωματούχους αραβικής καταγωγής του Κράτος του Ισραήλ.
Στην προηγούμενη διπλωματική θέση του ο
κ. Γιάχια υπηρέτησε ως ο πρώτος στην ιστορία Ισραηλινός Άραβας Πρέσβης
του Κράτους του Ισραήλ στην Φινλανδία (1995-1999). Προηγουμένως,
χρημάτισε συντονιστής της Διεύθυνσης Ειδικών Προγραμμάτων για την Μέση

Mr. George Ciamba was designated as Romania's Ambassador to Greece. On
September 30, 2005 he presented his credentials to the President of the
Hellenic Republic.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Ciamba held the position of
Secretary of State (Deputy Minister) for Multilateral or Global Affairs
of the MFA since July 16 2003. In this capacity he led the Romanian
delegations attending ministerial meetings of the EU (IGC), NATO,
Council of Europe, UN and other organizations.
Mr. Ciamba was Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Turkey
(1999-2003) and the Permanent Representative of Romania to the Black Sea
Economic Cooperation Organization (2001-2003).
After graduation in 1990 he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Romania as an attache and went through all diplomatic ranks, having held

Daniel V. Speckhard was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Greece on
November 7, and arrived in Athens on November 15, 2007. His last posting
was as the Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Baghdad, following a
year as Director of the Iraq Reconstruction Management Office there.
From 2003 to 2005, Ambassador Speckhard served as Director of Policy
Planning responsible for advising and assisting the Secretary General,
senior NATO management, and the Council in addressing strategic issues
facing the alliance.
From 2000 to 2003, he was NATO's Deputy Assistant
Secretary General for Political Affairs, covering political relations
with the countries of Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the former Soviet
Union, and the Mediterranean. During this period, Ambassador Speckhard
received the NATO Service Medal for his crisis management work.
As U.S. Ambassador to Belarus from 1997 to 2000, Speckhard worked
closely with the OSCE and EU in promoting democratic reform, human
rights, and institutional development. From 1993 to 1997, he was a
Deputy to the Ambassador-at-Large for the New Independent States at the
State Department in Washington. He was responsible for a broad range of
political, security and economic issues facing large parts of the former
Soviet Union.
From 1990 to 1993, Ambassador Speckhard served as an advisor and then
Director of Policy and Resources for the Deputy Secretary of State,
coordinating and overseeing foreign aid funding in support of U.S.
policy objectives. He received special recognition for his role in
reorienting these programs to meet the new challenges of the post-Cold
War era. From 1981 to 1990, his assignments included positions in the
International Affairs Division of the Office of Management and Budget,
the US Agency for International Development, staff member in the U.S.
Senate, and in state and local government.
